BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), in coordination with the local government unit here, will provide free transportation to commuters affected by today’s transport strike.
The Bacolod Alliance of Commuters, Operators and Drivers (BACOD) and the United Negros Drivers and Operator Center-Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (UNDOC-PISTON), confirmed their participation to the nationwide “untat byahe” coinciding with the second State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
“Matam-is lang nga yuhum ang bayad,” said BCPO director Colonel Noel Aliño.
The BCPO shall dispatch police mobile vehicles to the following routes:
* Police Station (PS) 1 – Banago-Downtown-Libertad
* PS 2 – Eroreco-Downtown
* PS 3 – Bata-Libertad; Mandalagan-Libertad
* PS 4 – Estefania-Downtown; Villamonte-Downtown
* PS 5 – Granada-Burgos; Abada-Burgos
* PS 6 – Taculing-Downtown; Dona Juliana-Downtown
* PS 7 – Mansilingan-Downtown; Alijis-Downtown
* PS 8 – Pahanocoy-Downtown; Tangub-Downtown
* PS 9 – Sum-ag-Downtown; Cabug-Downtown
* PS 10 – Handumanan-Libertad; Felisa-Libertad
The strike is from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to BACOD and UNDOC-PISTON.
On the other hand, the Sentrong Samahan ng Tsuper at Operators Negros (SSTONE) and the Federation of Bacolod City Drivers Association (Febacda), also in this city, said they would not join the transport strike.
The groups said they have no problem with the government’s transport modernization program./PN
