
BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) affirmed the they remain apolitical despite the recent arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte.
Police Colonel Joeresty Coronica, director of the BCPO, told the local media on Tuesday, March 18, that the BCPO keeps its morale high despite political issues following Duterte’s arrest on March 11 due to the warrant for crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court.
“Indi na kami dapat mag-intra dira because kon ano man amon sentimiento dira, we have to keep it,” Coronica said.
The BCPO chief further advised his men to refrain from commenting on the issue.
On the other hand, the BCPO initiated the peace covenant signing for local candidates for the May 12 midterm elections at BCPO headquarters on Tuesday.
The activity promotes a commitment to non-violence, respect, and fair conduct during elections.
Coronica, in his message, emphasized the vital role of unity and commitment in ensuring an election process that upholds integrity, fairness, and security.
He further underscored the clean, honest, active, meaningful, and peaceful (CHAMP)
election principles, urging candidates and stakeholders to actively promote a peaceful and orderly democratic exercise./PN
