BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) conducted a simulation exercise (SIMEX) by staging a robbery incident along Araneta Street in this city on Saturday, December 28.

The SIMEX, headed by BCPO deputy director for operations Lieutenant Colonel Lester Leada and under the supervision of BCPO director Colonel Joeresty Coronica, aims to ensure the preparedness of the law enforcement agency in responding to crime incidents.

In the first part of the drill at a financing institution, officers of the Police Station 1 quickly responded to the crime scene.

The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team also arrived swiftly to handle the situation. Adding complexity to the exercise, a simulated fire incident was introduced, to which the city’s Bureau of Fire Protection responded effectively.

The second phase of the SIMEX showcased a dragnet operation. Two alleged suspects, riding a motorcycle, were apprehended in the vicinity of Police Station 3 after a coordinated pursuit.

The SIMEX highlighted the readiness and seamless coordination among BCPO units and other agencies tasked to respond during critical incidents, Leada said.

It also underscored the importance of preparedness in handling emergencies to ensure public safety and security.

The BCPO added that the local police remain committed to enhancing its operational capabilities through regular simulation exercises, ensuring the safety of the residents and businesses./PN
