BCPO to intensify police presence following street brawl

BY DOMINIQUE GABRIEL G. BAÑAGA

BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) will double its police presence on the streets after two groups of minors had a brawl on Lacson Street in Barangay Mandalagan last week.

BCPO public information officer, Police Lieutenant Liberty Indiape, said cops will now regularly check bars and beer houses.

With the easing of health restrictions and curfew hours, Indiape advised barangay officials to station some tanods near bars to prevent trouble.

He also advised parents to monitor their children and not allow them to go out of the house ate at night.

Under City Ordinance No. 331 minors are banned from the city’s streets from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. unless they are accompanied by their parents or a guardian.

Earlier this year, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran urged BCPO to strictly enforce the ordinance in response to an incident at the Bacolod City Government Center when two rival groups of minors figured in a melee which resulted in the stabbing and death of a 15-year-old boy./PN
