BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Council urged the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to intensify police visibility in all public and private schools here.
The Council passed a resolution on this during their regular session on Wednesday, July 24, to ensure the safety of the learners.
The opening of classes for school year 2024-2025 will be on Monday, July 29.
“The increased police visibility around private and public schools will protect students and suppress crimes within the vicinity of schools,” read part of the resolution.
The Council added there is a need for the BCPO to increase its police visibility to institute appropriate measures to ensure the safety and security of the children and to help bring back the people’s confidence in the law enforcement agencies.
For his part, Colonel Joeresty Coronica, the newly installed officer-in-charge of the BCPO, said they deploy police personnel in schools and in other areas near it every school opening.
He added that for this school year’s opening they will coordinate with the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office and Traffic Enforcement Unit of BCPO for augmentation of personnel in order to manage the traffic flow./PN
