ILOILO – The province’s police director, Senior Supt. Cornelio Salinas, yesterday warned the public to be vigilant against lawless elements.
“I urge house owners to be extra vigilant especially at night,” Salinas said, adding that robbers now spread out to different municipalities and barangays.
Salinas said he had already instructed his police chiefs to intensify their anti-criminality campaign and strengthen the crime prevention measures through patrolling in far-flung areas.
He also urged barangay officials to activate their tanods to help the police.
The provincial director said that as part of preventive measures, he will also intensify the Police Integrated Patrol System (PIPS) via check points aimed at monitoring the movements of robbery/hold-up suspects.
The checkpoint operations have prevented the re-occurrence of hold-up incidents victimizing the taxi drivers and home owners,” Salinas said./PN
