MANILA – Rain or Shine Elasto Painters center Beau Belga has agreed to join the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers coaching staff as big man’s coach.
Tigers head coach Aldin Ayo confirmed to Panay News on Thursday afternoon the entry of the former Gilas Pilipinas center to strengthen the UST’s frontline. “Beau has agreed to join us,” Ayo said. “He will be a big help sa team dahil madami tayong mga big man na may potential sa team.”
The Tigers currently has a number of centers in its lineup, led by UAAP Season 82 MVP Soulemane Chabi Yo, Dave Ando, Christian Manaytay and Ira Bataller. The UAAP Season 82 men’s seniors basketball runner ups have also recently secure the commitment of Tiger Cubs big man John Bismarck Lina.
Belga is a two-time PBA champion with the Painters. He have also previously played for Magnolia Hotshots franchise, Burger King Whoppers and Meralco Bolts.
Belga, a former Philippine Christian University Dolphins center, was also tapped to play for the national men’s basketball team several times and has won a gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games basketball once./PN
