
PIA Wurtzbach and Megan Young led the group of beauty queens who were muses for the delegates of the Southeast Asian Games during the opening ceremony at the Philippine Arena on Saturday.
In different ternos designed by Eric Pineda, Pia, the 2015 Miss Universe titleholder, walked for the Philippines, while Megan Young, the 2013 Miss World winner, was Indonesia’s muse.
On Instagram, Pia wrote: “So happy and blessed to represent our beloved country…Good luck to all the hardworking athletes. Mabuhay po kayo at mabuhay ang bansang Pilipinas!”
Megan, for her part, said she’s happy to walk for Indonesia where she won Miss World six years ago.
Sharing photos of her with Pia on Instagram, Megan wrote: “Queens for #30thSEAGAMES. What an amazing experience it was to be a part of the opening number! Each of us walked with a participating country earlier and I’m so happy I got to walk with the Indonesian athletes Indonesia will always be a country dear to my heart because that’s where I won Miss World. Took some photos backstage with Queen P who walked with the Philippine athletes during the opening number! Nakakakilabot nung sinabi yung ‘Philippines!!!’ During that moment we were all just so proud to be Filipino.”
The other beauty queens who were part of the ceremony were, among others, Karen Ibasco, Karen Gallman, Angelia Ong, and Lara Quigaman. (Push)
