MANILA – Negrense track and field athlete Bernalyn Bejoy captured her second medal for the Philippines in the ongoing 2019 Asean School Games in Semarang, Indonesia.
Bejoy took home a bronze medal in the girls 4×400 meter relay event where she teamed up on Monday with Charmaine De Ocampo, Divina Mahusay and Riza Jane Valiente.
Bejoy earlier won a silver medal in the girls 400 meter hurdles event.
The Philippine delegation got two more bronze medals from Hokket Delos Santos (boys pole vault) and Charles Darwin Tiglao in pencak silat tanding event.
Meanwhile, the pair of Samantha Therese Coronel and Mishka Sy delivered the country’s second gold medal in girls 100 meter backstroke event.
The National University Lady Bullpups-backed girls volleyball team, on the other hand, settled for a silver medal finish after suffering a tough 20-25, 29-31, 25-19, 25-18, 9-15 loss to gold medal winner Thailand.
Among the members of the Regine Diego-mentored squad were Talisay City-native libero Shaira Jardio, Bacolod City-native Angel Canino and Guimarasnon setter Camille Lamina.
The NU Bullpups-backed boys basketball team, for their part, had a chance for a gold medal repeat after easily disposing Malaysia, 118-62, in the semifinals on Monday afternoon./PN
