BELA Padilla clarified on social media her political stand after a netizen asked whether she is actually a “DDS” or a Diehard Duterte Supporter.
A Twitter user questioned her name’s inclusion in a document containing the list of people who travelled up north with director Joyce Bernal to shoot video materials in preparation for the upcoming State of the Nation Address of President Rodrigo Duterte.
“Wait, is @padillabela a DDS? If so, what a plot twist,” said Twitter user David Gusion on Friday.
Padilla replied to this and said: “Nope not at all.”
The Kapamilya actress again answered Gusion when he prodded her to explain why her name appears in the list.
“I was told we were going to shoot for Liter Of Light (which we did)…but as soon as I found out that us being there could have any connection with the SONA, I went home alone, immediately, because I have no participation in it anyway,” she said.
To which, Gusion responded: “In conclusion, you are not a supporter of this admin, and you will not be participating in the SONA in any way. We will take your word for it. Thanks ulit! Cheers!”
And for Padilla’s last reply to him, she said: “In the most respectful way to everyone involved, yes. Cheers!”
Last week, Bernal’s team went to Sagada and Banaue but was turned away due to the travel restrictions still being imposed due to COVID-19.
After it made headlines, Piolo Pascual, whose name also appears in the same document as Padilla, trended online with some netizens questioning why he appeared to be siding with the government, given the difficulties ABS-CBN, his home network, has been having in applying for a new franchise.
In a statement released last week, Pascual insisted the trip “has got nothing to do with [his] political stand,” nor that it meant that he was turning his back on ABS-CBN, as some had suggested. (ABS-CBN)
