SAN JOSE, Antique – The local government of Belison in this province has provided emergency cash assistance to residents who remain affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic (COVID-19).

Mayor Christopher Piccio said they initiated the program “No Belisongnon is Left Behind” for those who were unable to avail themselves of the social amelioration program, Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers program and other emergency cash assistance from the national government.
As of July 14, a total of 384 residents received the cash assistance.
“We had a P2-million supplemental budget as emergency cash assistance,” Piccio said, adding that they wanted residents to feel that the government has not neglected them.

According to the mayor, they began extending the emergency financial assistance last July 8.
Piccio said residents needing the cash aid may coordinate with the municipal social welfare and development office of Belison.”

“There is no economic status being considered in giving the assistance because we believe that everybody is a victim of COVID-19,” he added.

Residents who live alone received P1,500 while households composed of two persons got P2,000; three persons, P3,000; four persons, P4,000; and five persons, P5,000.
“P5,000 is the ceiling amount of the emergency cash assistance,” Piccio said.
The financial assistance was released by the Municipal Treasurer’s Office (MTO) to the beneficiaries of 11 barangays at the municipal gymnasium.
The MTO is also doing house-to-house releasing of the cash aid for those who could not come to their office. (With a report from PNA/PN)
