Bacolod City—Ariel Querubin, the most bemedaled Filipino military hero and Medal of Valor recipient, joined the Negrenses in celebrating the 28th Panaad sa Negros Festival.

The esteemed retired soldier attended festival events on April 20 and, during his speech, urged unity among Filipinos in the face of escalating inflation, unemployment, and corruption.

“It is essential for us to unite and confront these pressing issues as one nation,” Querubin stated. “I urge our government to focus on managing the rising costs of basic goods and services, improving workers’ wages, and fighting graft and corruption.”

Querubin voiced his concern over the persistent challenges of hunger and poverty in the country, highlighting the urgency for a strong, unified government to improve public welfare and move the nation forward.

In an interview with the media, Querubin revealed his visit to Negros Occidental was to also initiate conversations with the people to understand their primary needs and concerns.

The retired Marine Corps officer expressed his readiness to return to public service if called upon by the Filipino people.

A staunch advocate for women’s rights, Querubin acknowledges their significant sacrifices and champions enhanced support and opportunities for them. He also proposed expanding benefits for senior citizens, including free and accessible hospitalization, and voiced support for educational assistance for firstborn children who often shoulder considerable family responsibilities.

Querubin is renowned for his distinguished military service and his role in combating various armed factions while serving in the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
