WE ALL know the health importance of water. And we are also very particular that we consume not only healthy but clean water as well.

But did you know that there are different types of drinking water? The ones we are familiar with include spring, mineral, distilled, and purified water. But have you heard of alkaline water and how it is considered more beneficial than other forms of water which are all considered acidic?

Alkaline water is water with a pH of 8. Our regular water has a pH of 7.5 which is considered acidic.

Here are the Top 8 alkaline water benefits:

  1. Alkaline water is a powerful antioxidant. Antioxidants help protect our bodies from free radicals, those groups of atoms that damage our immune system. We all know that a damaged or poor immune system makes one prone to illnesses and infections. Alkaline water is a very powerful antioxidant, even more than most products in capsules since it is in liquid form. Thus it is easier absorbed by the body.
  2. Alkaline water effectively balances the pH levels of the body. Our body has a natural mechanism to help maintain the acid-alkaline balance of our blood. But when your body is overly acidic, as when you consume a lot of meat, cheeses, butter, coffee, soft drinks, processed sugars, alcoholic beverages and you smoke, your system has to work doubly hard to keep that balance. Having too much of these will deposit acid waste into our bodies. And the body becomes prone to diseases since they thrive where acid levels are high.

Alkaline water helps by neutralizing the acid levels in our body thus serve both as preventive measures as well as speed up the recovery process.

  1. It promotes better hydration. Alkaline water has smaller molecular content making it easier for the body to absorb. It also contains various types of naturally ionized minerals that can help in the blood circulation. Thus with better circulation, the body can function at optimum levels and with faster absorption of water, dehydrated is also rapidly corrected.
  2. Alkaline water detoxifies the body. One of the primary benefits of drinking alkaline water is its ability to wash away toxins that makes your body prone to diseases and infections. Alkalinizing the water gets rid of harmful minerals and other impurities. What’s the use of drinking eight glasses of water when it is loaded with bacteria and other impurities?
  3. Boost the immune system. An alkaline environment neutralizes the free radicals and helps cleanse the body of toxins. So when you are free of these toxins, there is less chances of getting sick.
  4. Helps to lose weight. Whenever we have an excess of acids in our body, our body creates more fat cells to neutralize them. These fat cells in turn equates to weight gain. But since alkaline water’s primary effect is to neutralize the body’s acids, our body need not produce extra fat cells thus our fat storage is reduced and weight loss occurs.
  5. Alkaline water helps fight cancer. Simply said, cancer cells do not thrive in a neutral pH level, whereas cancer cells multiply faster in an acidic environment.
  6. Alkaline water prevents the development of diabetes. There was a study citing the important relationship between sugar intake and alkaline water. Our pancreas, the organ that secretes insulin and balances the blood sugar level, is highly dependent on correct alkaline diet. All aspect of pancreatic function reduces excess acidity. Thus to have proper blood sugar balance, we need to maintain a primarily alkaline- forming diet.

So instead of just drinking regular water, why not try alkaline water and reap all the benefits that it offers.
