BACOLOD City – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Western Visayas has begun its preparations for the upcoming All Saints’ and All Souls’ days on Nov. 1 and 2, respectively.
BFP-6 regional director, Fire Senior Superintendent Jerry Candido, directed all BFP units in the region to conduct rekorida or mobile public announcements twice a day.
Special attention would be given to fire-prone villages.
Starting today, Oct. 27, Candido said the whole BFP in Western Visayas will be placed under “red alert” status until Nov. 2.
Firefighting equipment will also be prepositioned in some areas to easily respond to any incidents.
Several programs will also be introduced by the BFP-6 in observance of “Undas,” such as offering fire safety tips to cemetery-goers as well as travelers who will be going home for the long weekend.
Candido also reminded the public who will either go on vacation or visit cemeteries to make sure that all of their electrical appliances are unplugged and gas lines are turned off prior to leaving their homes to avoid fires./PN
