BORACAY – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP-Aklan) is waiting for the summary results of examinations by the Arson Laboratory Service of BFP-National headquarters in the aftermath of the Boracay fire incident.

On March 2, 2022, a two-hour fire broke out and gutted residential houses in the hilly area of Sitio Bantud in Barangay Manocmanoc. The fire started at around 12:25 p.m.

Provincial Fire Marshall Chief Inspector Rowel Limjuco said the agency had conducted an investigation to determine the cause and origin of the Boracay fire.

The pieces of evidence collected and photographs taken were also subjected to electro microanalysis and qualitative examinations by the Arson Laboratory.

Aside from BFP-Boracay, fire trucks of Shangri-La Boracay, Boracay Fire Rescue and Ambulance Volunteers, Fairways and Bluewater Boracay and Savoy Hotel Boracay, and water tankers of Boracay Water and Boracay Tubi System, Inc.  helped put out the blaze.

BFP-Aklan also alerted firefighters in mainland Malay, Buruanga, Nabas, Ibajay, and Pandan Antique to augment BFP-Boracay.

ā€œWhile the contingent teams

were about to deploy, the firefighters on site already controlled the fire in Sitio Bantud. The reinforcements were advised not to proceed to Boracay anymore,ā€ Limjuco added.
