SAN JOSE, Antique – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is strengthening all its fire stations in the province.

This is to prevent occurrences of destructive fire, particularly in this capital town.
Senior Fire Officer Alex Ortiaga said the BFP doubles its efforts on fire prevention.

Ortiaga added that the BFP is reminding the public of the dangers of destructive fire and the ways it can be prevented through its information dissemination advocacy called “Oplan Paalala.”

Provincial Fire Marshal Superintendent Randy Pudadera said all municipal fire marshals had been ordered to collaborate with communities, especially in the barangay level, for the conduct of home inspections.

The inspections aim to educate the families on fire prevention, Pudadera said. Currently, BFP in San Jose has 18 personnel and five fire trucks.

Pudadera said the number of personnel and fire trucks is not enough to combat
simultaneous fire incidents in the town.

But he added that in such cases, BFP personnel stationed in neighboring towns will augment the firefighters in San Jose. (PIA/PN)
