BACOLOD City – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in this city conducted a simultaneous fire and evacuation drill in 10 public elementary schools on Monday, March 17, as part of the observance of the Fire Prevention Month.

The participating schools were Andres Bonifacio Elementary School 1 (ABES-1), Corazon Locsin Montelibano Elementary School, Education and Training Center School 1 (ETCS-1), Crispino V. Ramos Elementary School, Rodolfo Medel Elementary School, Sum-ag Elementary School, Asuncion Lizares Elementary School, Antonio L. Jayme Elementary School, Mandalagan Elementary School, and Emilia J. Garcia Elementary School.

Fire Supt. Jenny Masip, city fire marshal, said the drill is part of their continuing efforts to promote safety and preparedness among the students and school faculty and staff.

“Let’s all do our part in preventing fires and keeping our communities safe,” she added.

The BFP-Bacolod City fire drills are essential for ensuring safety in schools, workplaces, and public buildings.

The drill will help people practice how to respond quickly and calmly in case of a fire emergency. By conducting regular fire drills, individuals learn evacuation routes, emergency exits, and proper procedures to follow, it said.

“Fire drill will reduce panic and confusion during real emergencies, potentially saving lives,” the city’s BFP added./PN
