BACOLOD City – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is on heightened alert.
Fire Chief Inspector Publio Ploteña, fire marshal of BFP-Bacolod, directed all fire marshals in the cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental, as well as fire supervisors of the six substations in this city to intensify their campaign on fire prevention this All Saints’ Day (Nov. 1) and All Souls’ Day (Nov. 2).
Ploteña also encouraged residents to be vigilant.
Turn off all lights, put out candles and switch off the main switch before leaving houses for the cemetery, he said.
Matches and the lighters should be placed in drawers that cannot be reached by children, Ploteña added.
He also reminded homeowners to secure their houses before leaving by locking the door.
Meanwhile, Memorandum Order No. 133 issued by Mayor Evelio Leonardia to Ernesto Pineda, executive assistant II, directed and authorized the public official to monitor and assist in the implementation and regulation of public markets, public plazas and public cemeteries in relation to the observance of All Saints’ Day.
In his memo dated Oct. 23 Leonardia directed Pineda to coordinate with the City Legal Office and the Bacolod City Police Office in maintaining peace and order in these respective areas of concern. He also charged Pineda to coordinate with the Traffic Management Unit / Bacolod Traffic Authority Office in the proper implementation of the traffic plans of action during the festivity.
Pineda was also directed to coordinate with the City Treasurer’s Office and the City Mayor’s Office-Permits and Licensing Division so that all corresponding permits and licenses, as well as the collection of special fees are duly applied with and paid for.
Lastly, Pineda is tasked to coordinate with the Department of Public Services to maintain the cleanliness of the city and ensure thr collection of garbage in these areas of concern./PN
