ANTIQUE – The Bureau of Fire Prevention (BFP) in San Jose de Buenavista town reminded the public to be mindful of the three Ks during the weekend leading to All Saints’ and All Souls’ days: kandila, kuryente, kalan (candle, electricity, cooking stove).

BFP-San Jose de Buenavista acting fire marshal Vic Matta said Monday, Oct. 24, that as people clean tombs and visit cemeteries, the BFP is on alert, especially with most houses unattended.

“The public is being reminded to observe fire safety by ensuring that they have put off candles and switched off whatever has electricity and cooking stoves before they leave their homes,” he said.

Matta said BFP is on “Oplan Kaluluwa (Soul)” from Oct. 17 until Nov. 2.

They also hold mobile announcements on fire safety as well as inspect ports, malls, churches, hotels, and restaurants where crowds are anticipated, added Matta.

There will also be a 24/7 deployment of BFP personnel to oversee command posts at three major cemeteries in San Jose de Buenavista from Oct. 27 to Nov. 2.

“The three command posts will be joint efforts of the Philippine National Police, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and the BFP,” Matta said. (PNA)/PN
