Bigger income, expenses survey set in Aklan

About 1,540 households in 98 barangays in Aklan were taken as samples for the survey according to Provincial Statistics Officer Antonet Catubuan.

KALIBO, Aklan – The Philippine Statistics Authority is currently preparing for a comprehensive family income and expenditure survey in the province this July.

The nationwide survey aims to gather data on the income distribution, levels of living and spending patterns of Filipino families.

Provincial Statistics Officer Antonet Catubuan said about 1,540 households in 98 barangays in Aklan were taken as samples for the survey.

“This is the first time that the survey will be conducted in the province with such a big number of samples because the office targets to produce a provincial data disaggregation,” Catubuan said.

She added that local income and expenses data were long been demanded by local government units, development planners, and stakeholders from the PSA.

Conducted every three years, the survey provides benchmark information to update the weights used in the estimation of consumer price index and serves as inputs in the estimation of the country’s poverty threshold and incidence. (With PSA-Aklan/PN)
