ILOILO City – From the National Youth Commission (NYC) as commissioner representing the Visayas, Ilongga Rhea Peñaflor has been appointed assistant secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
In an appointment order dated Aug. 8, President Rodrigo Duterte picked Peñaflor vice Assistant Secretary Maria Lourdes Turalde-Jarabe.
Peñaflor said she was thankful and humbled by the continued trust of the President.
“I have been entrusted a bigger role in DSWD, not only focusing on the youth but all sectors of society, especially the vulnerable and the disadvantaged,” Peñaflor told Panay News.
Her stint at the NYC, she said, further fueled her passion to serve the country.
“I thank my dear Filipino youth, especially the youth from the Visayas, for their selfless commitment in helping the government push for youth development and meaningful programs and policies. I hope I have served my duties well as your commissioner representing Visayas,” said Peñaflor.
Peñaflor was scheduled to take her oath as Assistant Secretary of DSWD yesterday in Malacañang.
“Wala man sang nagbag-o, padayon ang pagserbisyo sa aton pumuluyo. Nagdugang lang constituency, indi na lamang pamatan-on kundi ang mga nagakalain-lain nga mga sektor nga dapat naton buligan,” she stressed./PN
