BACOLOD City – A 19-year-old teenager suspected to have stolen a mountain bike at the public market of Bago City in Negros Occidental has been arrested on Thursday afternoon.

Dorwin Arevalo was a resident of Purok Balintawak, Barangay Don Jorge Araneta, Bago City.

According to the Bago City police, the mountain bike was owned by 25-year-old Jacob John Odrada. It was borrowed by a cousin who went to the public market to get a haircut at a barber shop.

The cousin later discovered the bike missing from where he left it. He went home to tell Odrada that the bike had been stolen.

The cousins subsequently went to Purok Riverside in nearby Barangay Lag-asan to look for the stolen bike.

Sure enough, they spotted Arevalo riding the mountain bike.

Odrada confronted the suspect who immediately fled.

At the same time, however, Police Corporal Mark Greggy Luto was in the area. He joined in the chase. Arevalo was arrested.

The P15,000 mountain bike was recovered, while Arevalo was detained at the Bago City police station./PN
