MANILA – The lawyer of “Bikoy” Peter Joemel Advincula was plotting for Vice President Leni Robredo’s impeachment due to her alleged role in the series of videos linking President Rodrigo Duterte, his family and friends to illegal drug trade.
Atty. Lorenzo Gadon on Thursday said he planned to file an impeachment complaint against Robredo if she is indicted for sedition and inciting to sedition.
“That is one of the direction we may take. If Mrs. Robredo is indicted then that would be the next step – the impeachment proceedings against her. That’s the plan, but that’s my plan only,” Gadon said.
Gadon, who was behind the impeachment complaint against former Supreme Court chief justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, said the administration has nothing to do with his moves or plans.
“Sinasabi nila pakawala ako ng Malacañang, and I just want to be appointed. It turned out hindi ako nagpa-appoint, hindi ako nag-apply and I was not even endorsed by (President Rodrigo) Duterte in my run for the Senate,” he said.
Based on Advincula’s testimony, the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group filed charges of sedition, cyber libel, libel, estafa, harboring a criminal, and obstruction of justice against Robredo.
Aside from Robredo, other respondents in the complaints were opposition senators Leila de Lima and Risa Hontiveros, former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, and several other opposition personalities.
Advincula earlier claimed he is the hooded figure “Bikoy” in the “Totoong Narcolist” series of viral videos which linked Duterte’s family and allies to the narcotics trade.
He added he was paid to appear in the videos, allegedly masterminded by opposition members, who wanted to remove the President from power.
The opposition denied Advincula’s allegations./PN
