BACOLOD City – The town of Binalbagan was declared champion of this year’s Panaad Folk Dance competition held as part of the ongoing celebration of the Panaad sa Negros Festival 2023.
The folk dance competition was held Wednesday night at the Panaad Park and Stadium.
Binalbagan took home P50,000 cash prize.
Placing second was Escalante City with P40,000 cash prize; followed by Cadiz City, third place (P30,000); Kabankalan City, fourth place (P25,000); and Murcia, fifth place (P20,000).
Meanwhile, the cities of Bacolod, Himamaylan and Silay received the consolation prize of P5,000 each.
On Tuesday night, the “Kadalag-an Festival” of Victorias City was the champion of the 2023 Panaad sa Negros Best of Festival Dances competition.
Meanwhile, the first two days of the Panaad sa Negros Festival was a huge success in terms of sales.
Based on information released by both the provincial government and festival organizers, sales generated during the first two days reached P3.6 million.
The total figure comprises product sales from the local government unit pavilions, food kiosks, and various trade fairs.
The Panaad sa Negros Festival is dubbed the “Festival of all Festivals” in Negros Occidental. It went on hiatus for three years (2020, 2021 and 2022) due to the coronavirus pandemic./PN
