MANILA – Biñan Tatak Gel 1-Pacman Partylist Volley Angels climbed to third spot in the 2024 MPVA season with a 25-23, 26-24, 25-14 sweep over Caloocan AM Spikers on Tuesday night at the Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna.
Chreizel Aguilar stepped up with 13 points, build on 12 attacks and a service, to be named Player of the Game as the Volley Angels notched their third straight win for a 10-5 win-loss record.
According to Aguilar, she took advantage of the absence of team captain Erika Jin Deloria to showcase her offensive prowess for the Volley Angels as the tournament moves closer to playoffs round.
“Nag-prepare lang po ako for this game kasi very big adjustment din, wala ‘yung team captain namin so tinake ko lang ‘yung challenge and nagawa ko naman ‘yung best ko sa loob ng court,” Aguilar said in a post-game interview.
“Thankful din ako sa teammates ko dahil ginuide nila ako throughout the game and binigyan nila ako ng kumpiyansa na pumalo lang buong game,” added the Enderun College Lady Titans standout.
The AM Spikers, on the other hand, suffered their seventh defeat in 12 games to remain in sixth spot in the standings.
Meanwhile, Quezon Tangerines fortified their hold on the top spot in the standings with 13-1 as they defeated reigning champions Bacoor City Strikers (9-3), 25-18, 23-25, 25-16, 25-18.
Mycah Go spearheaded the attack with 15 points, on 14 attacks and one service ace, to be named Player of the Game for the Tangerines.
“Well, bilang isa sa mga senior sa team, palagi ko nire-remind mga teammates ko na kapag nasa loob kami ng court kailangan mag-focus kami sa kalaban,” Go said after the match.
“Alam naming lalaban at lalaban ‘yung kalaban namin so dapat kami din, dapat hindi kami makampante kasi isa ‘yun sa mga reason kung bakit kami matatalo,” added the College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers standout./PN
