Binay claims last senatorial spot

“Dapat bilisan ninyo 'yung pag-announce, pag-disseminate ng information kasi parang nawawalan ng kumpyansa 'yung public,” says Sen. Nancy Binay. ABS-CBN NEWS

MANILA – Reelectionist Sen. Nancy Binay was confident she owned the 12th and final slot in the senatorial race of the 2019 midterm elections last Monday.

Binay claimed the seat due to her consistent vote advantage of 200,000 against closest rival Jose Victor “JV” Ejercito.

“I opted not to talk during the past few days kasi ayoko maging presumptuous na baka hindi pa sigurado na sa akin ‘yung 12th spot but I think today I can already claim it,” Binay said.

The 45-year-old daughter of former vice president Jejomar Binay said she cannot be jubilant enough knowing her close friend Ejercito will not make it with her impending win.

“Hindi rin ako puwedeng mag-celebrate at ipagsigawan na ako na ang number 12 kasi alam ko, kaibigan ko ‘yung di na makakabalik,” Binay said.

Binay surprisingly went down to 12th place in the partial and unofficial count by the Commission on Elections despite her high rankings in pre-election surveys.

Binay sought reelection under the United Nationalist Alliance, the party of her father, who lost his bid as Makati representative against former Makati City acting mayor Romulo “Kid” Peña Jr. /PN
