BACOLOD City – Mayo Evelio Leonardia encouraged the 100 city employees who attended the recent Integrity, Transparency, and Accountability in Public Service (ITAPS) seminar to pledge “zero tolerance” against corruption.
The Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas conducted the seminar in two batches, 50 frontliner officers and employees in each group, on Oct. 5 and 6 at the Bacolod Government Center.
Leonardia hoped that all 1,300 city government employees can attend the ITAPS seminar.
This would be a guide of the employees for good governance and to eliminate corruption, he added.
Leonardia, who attended the first seminar-workshop held in August, said he wanted city employees to work with a sense of integrity, transparency, and accountability.
The ITAPS seminar-workshop included discussions on the following:
* “Understanding Corruption”
* “Accountability of Public Officers”
* “Penalizing Corruption” and
* “Making a Difference in Public Service.”
After attending the seminar-workshop, Leonardia thanked the Office of the Ombudsman for conducting the activity, which was a result of the reaction of Acting Regional Director Pio Dargantes Dargantes after receiving a memorandum from the mayor, informing the Ombudsman of the prevalent practice of “fixing activities” in some offices at the Bacolod Government Center.
