ILOILO – Bingawan town’s No. 1 most wanted person was arrested in Barangay Pal-agon, Pavia, Iloilo, at around 12:20 a.m. yesterday, May 22.
Francis John Portillo, a 40-year-old construction worker of Barangay Ngingi-an, Bingawan, was hiding in his mistress’ house, according to Lieutenant Ryan Christ Inot, Bingawan chief.
Portillo was charged with raping three minors, aged 13, nine, and seven.
According to Inot, when Portillo sensed that the Bingawan police were tailing him, he decided to hide in Pavia.
“When he learned that the three victims had filed rape cases against him, he fled and hid in his mistress’ house. However, we received a report that he was hiding in Pavia town, and we immediately conducted an operation,” Inot told Panay News.
The police were armed with an arrest warrant issued by Judge Redentor Eugenio Esperanza, assisting judge of the Regional Trial Court-Branch 76 in Janiuay, Iloilo on May 18.
Portillo is now under the custody of the Bingawan MPS, with no recommended bail for his temporary liberty./PN
