ILOILO City – The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Region 11, covering the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo, has exceeded its 2022 tax collection target by 9.63 percent.
BIR 11 regional director Joseph M. Catapia revealed during the recent 2023 tax campaign kickoff ceremony that Revenue Region 11 had actually collected last year around P13.726 billion in taxes which far exceeded its target of P12.5 billion by around P1.2 billion.
He added BIR Region 11 has been performing well for the past three consecutive years – 2020 to 2022 – despite the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
In 2020, the BIR Region 11 reported an actual collection of P10.353 billion, exceeding the P8.5billion target by around P1.8 billion or 21 percent above the target.
Within 2021, tax collected has reached around P11 billion, exceeding the P10.8-billion target by around P220 million or two percent above the target.
During the tax drive kickoff program, tax payers and other stakeholders pledged their commitment to support the BIR in its tax campaign.
A number of stakeholders, both public and private sectors, joined the 2023 Tax Campaign motorcade that followed the kickoff ceremony to help inform the public to pay their correct taxes on time. (PIA)/PN
