THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is keeping its target collection of P2.5 trillion for 2020 amid concerns over Taal disaster and the coronavirus disease.
“We will not use these events transpiring now as reasons for not achieving the goal and exceeding our gains obtained in 2019,” BIR commissioner Caesar Dulay recently said.
“We will continue to work with excellence, efficiency so that the mandate given to this agency will be achieved with the cooperation and help of all,” he added.
Despite falling short of its collection
goal last year, the BIR has set the bar higher as it sets a P2.5-trillion
revenue target for 2020.
This target is around P400 million higher compared to its actual collection of
P2.17 trillion in taxes in 2019.
The actual revenue figures, however, fell short of the P2.33-trillion goal for last year. (GMA News)
