BACOLOD City – Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) chief executive officer Frank Carbon is hoping there would be no changes in this city’s quarantine status despite the increasing cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In an interview over Aksyon Radyo Bacolod, Carbon said upgrading the city to a stricter quarantine would further “worsen the situation not just for the business sector, but for everyone”.
Carbon said the city government and barangay officials should be stricter in implementing health protocols to control the spread of COVID-19.
He further added that the recent executive order of Mayor Evelio Leonardia adjusting the curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. will not affect the business sector.
The city is currently under the modified general community quarantine.
Based on the data (as of June 10) released by the Bacolod City Emergency Operations Center, the city currently has 1,608 active COVID-19 cases.
Thursday’s record also showed 139 new cases, 108 new recoveries and a new fatality.
Bacolod had 10,729 total coronavirus cases with 8,842 recoveries and 277 deaths./PN
