Biz permit renewal in Bacolod extended

BACOLOD City – Businesses in this city could file applications for new or renewal of permits and licenses until next month.

This comes after the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) passed a resolution extending the Business One Stop Shop (BOSS) instead of the initial Jan. 20 deadline under City Ordinance No. 565.

The resolution cited that for the first quarter payment of business taxes, fees, and charges, there will be a 10 percent discount from Jan. 1 to 20 on one-time payments.

While those who will pay from Jan. 21 until Feb. 15, 2024, may no longer avail of the discount, but will not be meted out with a penalty.

The resolution was passed upon the request of Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, who received a letter from Stela Rose Rayos, head of the city’s Business Permits and Licensing Office, requesting an extension.

“While there are 25,393 registered business establishments in this city for the year 2023, there were 12,124 registered business establishments to date. We are left with 13,269 more businesses to be registered, not including the possibility of registering new applicants,” Rayos explained./PN
