BACOLOD City – The city’s Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) recorded 18,875 business registrations as of February 7.
Stela Rose Rayos, head of the BPLO, said on Monday, February 10, that of the number, only 8,472 have so far been issued with mayor’s permit after complying with all the requirements.
Rayos said they hope to reach their target on or before the end of the operation of the business one-stop-shop (BOSS) on February 15.
The BPLO head encouraged business owners to process their business renewal now to avoid surcharges and penalties.
A 25-percent surcharge and two-percent penalty will be imposed for the renewal of business registration beginning February 16.
Rayos, meanwhile, said that the BPLO’s joint inspection team will conduct an inspection of all businesses in the city after BOSS’ operation ends.
In 2024, Bacolod registered a total of 24,690 businesses.
Data from the BPLO showed that the figure is higher by 8 percent compared to the 22,784 registered businesses in 2023, solidifying the city’s status as among last year’s most business-friendly local government units (LGUs) in the country.
Of the total registered businesses last year, 5,167 were new firms while 19,523 were renewals./PN
