BACOLOD City – Shooters riding in tandem in a motorcycle killed a businessman in Barangay Sampinit, Bago City, Negros Occidental.
Jose Billena had multiple gunshot wounds on the body.
The 50-year-old resident of Purok Kalayugan, Barangay Sampinit was rushed to the Bago City hospital but declared “dead on arrival.”
Billena was tending to a stall at a mini-market on Crossing Kamatis.
He was bound for home on board his multi-cab when the suspects waylaid him, peppered him with bullets using a .45-caliber firearm and fled around 7:58 p.m. on Thursday, said Senior Inspector Hercules Trigue, deputy city police chief.
Trigue said they were looking into business rivalry and personal grudge as possible motives.
Several days ago Billena reported to the police an unidentified person who has not yet paid him the P60,000 they owed, said Trigue.
Investigation is ongoing./PN
