Blackwater’s Parks leads PBA Comm’s best player race

MANILA – Blackwater Elite rookie Bobby Ray Parks Jr. is statistically ahead in the race for the Best Player of the Conference award of the 2019 Honda PBA Commissioner’s Cup.


Based on the data released by the league, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 PBA Rookie Draft leads the league with an average of 37.2 SPs built around averages of 22.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.4 steals.


Top overall pick from the same draft class, Jaymar Perez of Columbian Dyip, is at second with 35.1 SPs after leading all locals in scoring with 22.7 points per game to go with 7.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.8 steals.


Parks and Perez’s chances, however, are close to nil with their teams not making it to the semifinals, leaving TNT KaTropa’s Jayson Castro, who has 35.1 SPs, as the favored one to win the award.


Also giving chase of Castro, who has 14.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and a local league-high 6.4 assists averages per game, are San Miguel Beermen’s June Mar Fajardo (33.8 SPs) and KaTropa’s Roger Pogoy (33.2 SPs).


Also in the top 10 of the Best Player of the Conference race are NorthPort Batang Pier’s Robert Bolick, Sean Anthony and Moala Tautuaa, Alaska Aces’ Chris Banchero and Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters’ Matthew Wright.


The league is set to award the winner of the Best Player of the Conference during Game 4 of the best-of-seven finals along with the Commissioner’s Cup’s Best Import awardee./PN
