ANTIQUE – A senior citizen died in a hit-and-run in Barangay San Andres, Pandan, Antique.
Blas Patricio Lomugdang, or “Toto Blas”, was blind.
He was found on the roadside, lifeless and with wounds past 6 a.m. on Wednesday, according to Gabriela May Varon Maglaoy-Juyanan, Lomugdang’s relative.
“May you find eternal peace with our creator, Toto Blas. Kon sin-o man ang naka-hit-and-run sa imo may Dios man ang kalibutan nga nakakita sa natabo. A very hardworking blind man, solo-fight sa kabuhi,” said Maglaoy-Juyanan in a Facebook post.
The family said Lomugdang’s routine included plying the road and hauling sand to earn a living after he was left alone when his mother and eldest sister died.
The Pandan municipal police were checking for any closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the area to determine the vehicle that hit the victim./PN
