BACOLOD City – The City Health Office (CHO) assured the public that there is sufficient supply of blood especially for dengue patients here.

City Health Officer Ma. Carmela Gensoli attributed the stable blood supply to the continuous bloodletting activities in all 61 barangays.

She commended the effort of the barangay officials for spearheading regular bloodletting activities, saying, “This helps a lot especially this season that dengue cases are increasing.”

Aside from this, Gensoli said the city government conducts a monthly bloodletting activity as part of the implementation of the Bacolod City Comprehensive Health Program (BacCHP), its flagship health program.

The CHO has recorded 875 dengue cases with three deaths as of August 24. The figures represent a 139.7 percent increase in the number of dengue cases from January 1 to August 24 compared to the same period last year.

Barangay Taculing still has the highest number of cases as 103, followed by barangays Bata (89), Estefania (63), Villamonte (62), Mansilingan and Granada (50 each), Mandalagan (43), Sum-ag (42), Alijis (40), Banago (34), and Tangub (33).

Gensoli further disclosed that private and government hospitals here have reached full capacity due to dengue patients./PN
