ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry Treñas not only extended the 72-hour “surgical extreme” enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Barangay Bo. Obrero in Lapuz district, but he also expanded the stringent measure with 200 houses on lockdown.

A portion of the village’s Zone 3 (50 houses) and almost 80 percent (150 houses) of Zone 2 were now covered with Treñas’ latest order extending ECQ for another three days beginning Sunday night.

These 200 houses would therefore continue their home quarantine until Wednesday night, July 29, or until all the results of their reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are released.

The ECQ was imposed beginning July 22 after two new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the neighborhood just days after a resident there died due to the viral illness.

According to Bo. Obrero village councilman James Conlu, there are now five confirmed COVID-19 cases detected in the village as of Monday.

They were the following:

* WV Patient No. 1124 – 17-year-old male (facility quarantined)

* WV Patient No. 1125 – 64-year-old female (facility quarantined)

* WV Patient No. 1126 – 10-year-old male (facility quarantined)

* WV Patient No. 1127 – 32-year-old male (facility quarantined)

* WV Patient No. 1128 – 26-year-old male (facility quarantined)

“One of them ang naga-istar sa boundary sang Zone 2 and Zone 3, rason nga ginpalapad ang area sang lockdown,” Conlu said.

With the ECQ extension, residents of the identified area are not allowed to go out of their houses for the meantime, even to buy provisions.

Conlu said both the city government and the barangay will supply food to every household as well as their other needs.

Si mayor may padala nga relief goods and ang barangay may augmentation man,” Conlu added.

A curfew and liquor ban are also being maintained in the neighborhood.

Mayor Treñas’ executive order on the “surgical extreme” ECQ ordered the households to observe the following:

* Refrain from unnecessary travel until the COVID-19 testing and sanitation process have been completed.

* Only Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR) shall be allowed to enter and/or leave the neighborhood, and existing health and safety measures shall be strictly imposed.

* All forms of transportation, both private and public, are restricted./PN
