Bobby Parks Jr. finally signs with Blackwater

Bobby Ray Parks Jr. finally signs a one-year P2-million contract with Blackwater Elite. ABL

MANILA – The stalemate between Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and Blackwater Elite has come to an end with the Filipino-American guard agreeing to sign to a one-year P2-million contract.

Parks Jr.’s player agent Charlie Dy confirmed the signing of the former UAAP MVP awardee by posting a photo of their contract signing with team governor Silliman Sy in his Instagram account on late Tuesday.

Elite interim coach Aris Dimaunahan said that he is looking forward to have the 26-year-old guard as they aim to bounce back in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup after finishing last in the Philippine Cup.

“I am extremely excited kasi alam naman natin kung ano ang kaya niyang ibigay sa isang team lalo na gusto naming mag-bounce back from last conference,” Dimaunahan said.

He added: “I am looking forward to coaching him kasi ‘yung last year ko (as a basketball player) ang coach ko si Bobby Parks (Sr.) sa San Miguel Beer sa ABL. Ngayon, I’ll be having a chance to coach Rayray naman.”

Parks Jr. was taken second overall by the Elite during the 2018 PBA Rookie Draft but was not able to suit up for the team in the 2019 Honda PBA Philippine Cup due to his commitment with San Miguel-Alab Pilipinas in the ASEAN Basketball League.

There were also rumors before that Parks is part of a three-team trade that will send him to his father’s former coach Norman Black at Meralco Bolts, Jericho Cruz to the Elite and Baser Amer to TNT KaTropa./PN
