BOC surpasses May collection target by P3B

MANILA – The Bureau of Customs (BOC) surpassed its May 2021 revenue collection target by 6.6 percent or P3.058 billion.

Based on the preliminary report from the BOC Financial Service, the Bureau collected P49.334 billion against the P46.276 billion target set for May.

The BOC said 12 of the 17 collection districts exceeded their target for May.

These are ports of San Fernando, Manila, Batangas, Legaspi, Iloilo, Tacloban, Surigao, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Subic, Clark, and Manila International Container Port.

Aside from the collection of these ports, the BOC said more revenues also came from the Tax Expenditure Fund collection worth P50.16 million and Post Clearance Audit Group collection amounting to P86.26 million.

The BOC has collected P249.793 billion since January, reflecting 40.50 percent of the 2021 target collection of P616.749 billion.

Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero attributed the positive collection to the improved valuation and volume of importations, and the intensified collective efforts of all the ports to prevent revenue leakages and collect all lawful revenues.

He also commended the efforts of the district collectors and the men and women of the BOC who, despite the risk to their health and safety, showed their unwavering commitment and dedication to service.(PNA)
