BACOLOD City – The body of a slain suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebel was found in a shallow grave yesterday morning in Barangay Riverside, Isabela, Negros Occidental.

Authorities identified him as Randy Garsola allegedly of the NPA’s Central Negros 1 Front.

Captain Joseph Partidas, Isabela police chief, said Garsola’s remains were discovered after an NPA surrenderer identified only as “Ka Ray” told authorities where the body was buried.

Partidas quoted Ka Ray as saying that Garsola told comrades he wished to see his family.

However, the insurgent leaders allegedly denied his request. Garsola was ordered to be put to death due to fear that the latter might reveal their location to the authorities.

According to Partidas, Ka Ray witnessed how Garsola was killed in the neighboring town of La Libertad in Negros Oriental. His remains were brought to Barangay Riverside.

Scene of the Crime Operatives are set to perform a DNA test on the body./PN
