Body shaming out, body praising in

YOU’RE beautiful, but you’re fat.

You’re beautiful, but you’re too big.

You’re beautiful, but your body looks maskulada.

You’re beautiful, but….

Big thighs? Wide hips? And what about having a double chin?

Haha. Name it, I have it.

Living in this “plus size is a turn off” world was a hard thing to suffer. As a plus size woman, I experienced rejections, insults and even “below the belt” jokes. People are disgusted by my body and at some point of my life, I also did.

Funny as it sounds but I used to get upset whenever I hear those negative comments. I used to starve myself and even tried different therapies just to get fit. But nothing happened. Instead of being motivated, I even felt disappointed with myself.

Nevertheless, I am thankful. These criticisms and insults made me the woman I am today. I started to love and appreciate myself. l realized that I had been criticizing myself for years, and it was I who criticized myself more than anyone did. It was I who put myself down. It was I who failed to believe in myself.

Just because you have more pounds doesn’t mean you’re not beautiful. Just because you are bigger than other woman, you are not loved. Just because you’re unique doesn’t mean you’re not worth it. And just because you’re fat, you’re not allowed to be confident.

No one is entitled to label you. No one is entitled to define who you are based on your physical appearance. No one is allowed to call you names because we are all different. Our flaws and differences make us all unique and special.

If someone tells you “you’re beautiful but you’re fat”, confidently respond, “I am beautiful, no matter what my body size is. Period.”/PN
