Bomb threat disrupts Bacolod Hall of Justice

BY DOMINIQUE GABRIEL BAÑAGA

BACOLOD City – People were quick to vacate the Bacolod City Hall of Justice on Cottage Road here yesterday after the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) received a bomb threat.

Around 8 a.m. a PAO staff received a call from an unidentified man who claimed a bomb had been planted on the building’s third floor.

According to Police Lieutenant Remant Benonobo, team leader of the Bacolod City Police Office Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (BCPO-EOD), they were immediately notified.

Several personnel of the National Bureau of Investigation’s Bacolod field office – one of whom was trained in ordnance disposal – also came over to help look for the alleged bomb.

After two hours of bomb searching, the BCPO-EOD declared the Hall of Justice “clear”.

Benobo said they have commenced an investigation after managing to secure the mobile phone number used to call the PAO./PN
