Bong Go accused of using gov’t funds for campaign

MANILA – Opposition senatorial candidate Rodolfo Alejano accused fellow senatorial bet Christopher “Bong” Go of using government funds for election campaign.

Alejano on Tuesday said public funds were used in distributed shirts bearing the former Special Assistant to the President’s name and face during the Liga ng mga Barangay’s first national assembly recently.

Ang kanilang registration fee at iba pang expenses ay charged sa local funds as per DILG (Department of Interior and Local Government) Memorandum Circular 2019-23. Ibig sabihin charged sa pondo ng gobyerno,” Alejano said.

The Negrense senatorial bet added that the fee covered hotel accommodation, meals, and seminar bags and materials in the three-day event at the SMX Covention Center in Pasay City last month.

Ang panawagan ko ay tigilan na ni Bong Go ang paggamit sa mga kapitan at pondo ng gobyerno para sa personal niyang kampanya,” he added.

Go, in a separate interview, said he has “no idea” that his name and cartoonized face were printed on the giveaways of the Liga event.

Wala po kaming kinalaman sa sinasabing ipinamigay na souvenirs sa isang pagpupulong ng barangay officials,” said Go, who also reminded his supporters not to use his name without consent.

Paalala rin sa mga dati kong kasamahan sa gobyerno: Prayoridad natin ang magserbisyo sa kapwa. Huwag na po kayo mangampanya o makisali pa sa pulitika. Itago niyo nalang sa puso ninyo kung sino gusto ninyong suportahan,” he added./PN
