ILOILO City – Police arrested two people suspected of collecting bets for the illegal numbers games “bookies.”
Maricris Hachero, a 39-year-old resident of Barangay San Vicente, Leganes, Iloilo, was caught in Barangay Poblacion in the town.
Officers caught her soliciting bets at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, a police report showed.
Hachero was detained at the Leganes police station.
On the same day Eduardo Baldevarona of Barangay Cansilayan, Pototan town was arrested, too.
Police caught the 68-year-old at 10:58 a.m. in Barangay Poblacion Ilawod, Zarraga.
Baldevarona was detained at the Zarraga police station.
Both Hachero and Baldevarona face charges for violation of Republic Act 9287, which increased penalties for illegal numbers games./PN
