ILOILO City – Three men suspected to be engaged in the illegal numbers game “bookies” were arrested in Barangay Maya, Balasan, Iloilo.
The Balasan police station took the following in custody: Robert Celiz, 50, and Jeffrey Batayola, 27, of Barotac Nuevo town and George dela Cruz, 45, of Estancia.
They were caught “consolidating bets/remittance” for bookies at around 3 p.m. on Feb. 8, a police report stated.
Recovered from the suspects were P4,600 cash, three calculators, two cellphones, five ball pens, and bundles of paper with number combinations.
Officers from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Special Operations Group and the Balasan police station swooped down on the suspects.
The men face charges for violation of Republic Act 9287, the law that increased penalties for illegal numbers games./PN
