BORACAY – After nearly two years of tourism slow down, this island is expecting visitors from “green” countries (those that are relatively cleared of or have managed to effectively control the spread of coronavirus disease 2019).
There are guidelines to be strictly followed, said Gov. Florencio Miraflores.
As soon as it’s safe to do so, tourists can travel freely without having to undergo quarantine upon arrival in the country, but they must submit proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to departure.
Fully vaccinated tourists from mainland China, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, India, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Kosovo, Guinea, Chad, Ivory Coast, Uganda, Senegal, Zambia, United Arab Emirates, Paraguay, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Togo, Palau, Rwanda, Saint Eustatius, South Africa, Saint Barthélemy, Oman, Morocco, Niger, Mali, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Comoros, Bhutan, Kuwait, Malvinas, Guinea-Bissau, and Hong Kong, are allowed by the national inter-agency task force to enter the country.
Leisure travel via chartered flights from “green” countries” is encouraged for the planned travel bubble arrangement.
Those arriving at the Kalibo International Airport would have to use chartered buses and designated safe travel lanes for domestic and foreign tourists upon arrival at the Caticlan jetty port.
Returning foreign tourists may also avail themselves of reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing if required by their country.
A private molecular laboratory in Caticlan reclamation area in Malay, Aklan operates to facilitate the swab testing of foreign travellers.
Since Sept. 8, about 79,600 domestic tourists have visited Boracay.
As of today, Boracay Island is reporting no domestic COVID-19 cases./PN
