Boracay cops get Medal of Merit

ILOILO City – Six police officers from the Boracay Tourist Assistance Center were recognized for arresting foreigners allegedly engaged in the illegal drug trade and cybercrime in the island resort.
The following received the Philippine National Police (PNP) Medalya ng Kagalingan (Medal of Merit) on Monday at Camp Martin Teofilo B. Delgado, headquarters of the Police Regional Office 6:
* Chief Inspector Mark Evan Salvo
* Senior Inspector Jess Baylon
* Senior Police Officer 2 Richmon Camon
* Senior Police Officer 1 Jhonel Quitlong
* Police Officer 2 John Mark Mascara
* Police Officer 1 Precious Joy Duque
The officers apprehended Lin Szu Wei and 20 other Taiwanese and Chinese nationals in a sting operation on Aug. 22 at Sunshine Cove in Boracay Island.
The suspects were charged with violation of sections 5, 7 and 11 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
