AKLAN — Police arrested a 38-year-old electric tricycle driver during a drug buy-bust operation on Boracay Island at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 4.
Suspect Daryl Villaranda, who is originally from Bacoor, Cavite and currently residing in Sitio Cabanbanan, Barangay Manocmanoc, Boracay, was caught exchanging a sachet of suspected shabu for P1,600.
During a subsequent body search, authorities discovered an additional 11 sachets of suspected shabu along with various nondrug items.
Villaranda, known by the alias “Alog”, claimed the drugs were supplied by friends from Iloilo.
He admitted to using illegal drugs since last year but insisted he does not do so while operating his e-trike.
Villaranda was detained by the Malay police which has jurisdiction over Boracay and faces charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
