BORACAY – The prime destination of Boracay Island was named among the “Top 25 Favorite Islands in the World 2023” in the latest “World’s Best Awards” survey of Travel + Leisure magazine.
Boracay Island, off the northern portion of Malay, Aklan, took the No. 10 spot with a score of 92.94 percent. Last year, it landed in the No. 9 spot with a score of 90.89 percent.
“More than 7,000 islands make up the Philippines, and Boracay still manages to stand apart from the rest. The tiny island — just 4.5 miles long — is known as ‘the island that never sleeps’ for its parties and nightlife. One T+L reader called the island ‘the best leisure vacation destination,’” the T+L survey said.
The Great Barrier Reef Islands in Australia was named in the No. 1 spot with a reader score of 96.11 percent.
Also in the Top 10 were the Maldives (95.68 percent); Bali, Indonesia (94.40 percent); Madeira, Portugal (94.33 percent); Phuket, Thailand (94.21 percent); Skye and the Hebrides, Scotland (94.13 percent); Koh Samui, Thailand (93.89 percent); Dominica (93.66 percent); and Langkawi, Malaysia (93.65 percent).
Nearly 165,000 T+L readers completed the 2023 survey, an increase of nearly 25 percent over pre-pandemic voting levels.
A total of more than 685,000 votes were cast across over 8,500 unique properties (hotels, cities, cruise lines, etc.).
Respondents rated the airlines, airports, car-rental companies, cities, cruise ships, destination spas, hotels, hotel brands, islands, luxury villa rental companies, safari outfitters, tour operators, trains, and U.S. national parks based on a number of characteristics for which they chose a rating of excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor.
